Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee is working hard to provide you with many professional growth opportunities.  We are confident that this year will be rich and rewarding for professional development.  We see it is a chance for teachers to come out of their classrooms and talk to one another, to articulate what they need to deliver a quality curriculum for their students. 

Listed Below are Professional Development Days for the current year.

 

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - School Based Professional Development Day.

Teachers shall participate in a school-based professional development activity.  In the circumstance where a teacher wishes to undertake a self-directed professional activity, there must be mutual agreement between the teacher and the principal. (note that the originally scheduled Imagine Day has been post-poned due to Phase One Job Action).

 

Friday, October 21, 2011 - Provincial Specialist’s Association Day (PSA)

Teachers choose to participate in an activity organized by the NDTA, provincial or regional organizations suchs as PSAs or Local Specialist Associations (LSAs) or choose a self directed activity. 

 

Monday, February 20, 2012 - District Day

Teachers are expected to attend this event or to apply for an alternate professional development opportunity in accordance with policy.

 

Monday, April 23, 2012 - School Based Professional Development Day

Teachers shall participate in a school-based professional development activity.  In the circumstance where a teacher wishes to undertake a self-directed professional activity, there must be mutual agreement between the teacher and the principal.

 

Monday, May 14, 2012 - School Based Professional Development Day (Secondary)

Teachers shall participate in a school-based professional development activity.  In the circumstance where a teacher wishes to undertake a self-directed professional activity, there must be mutual agreement between the teacher and the principal.

 

Thursday, June 28, 2012 - School Based Professional Development Day (Elementary)

Teachers shall participate in a school-based professional development activity.  In the circumstance where a teacher wishes to undertake a self-directed professional activity, there must be mutual agreement between the teacher and the principal.
